The Giants
Winning the most recent World Series in 2012, the San Francisco Giants are from San Francisco, California and are members of the National League West Division. They were founded in New York in 1883 and were known as the New York Giants until 1885 when they changed their name to the New York Giants. While in New York, the Giants won 5 World Series titles as well as 17 National League pennants. With their move to California in 1957, they changed to the San Francisco Giants and played at the Seals Stadium for their first two seasons before moving to Candlestick Park 3 years later. In 2000. They had the AT&T Park built for them which they have been playing at ever since. Their team colors are black, orange, and cream with their logo being the worl “GIANTS” overlapping a baseball. Being one of the older established teams, they have won the most games of any team in the history of North American professional sports as well as the most Hall of Fame players in all of professional baseball history.
While in San Francisco, the Giants haven't been as successful as they were in New York but they have started to quickly turn that around in the past couple years. After moving from the east coast to the west coast, the Giants weren't able to win another World Series until 2010 when they beat the Texas Rangers 4-1. They were able to continue their success by winning the World Series title once again in 2012, defeating the Detroit Tigers. Just like the Red Sox-Yankees rivalry, the Giants-Dodgers rivalry is one of the most intense in American baseball history. Dating back to the 19th century when both teams were in New York, they have remained competitive with each other until this very day. As one of the most competitive teams in the National League West Division, the Giants are eager to beat out their rivals in their league and clinch another win for their team.
