Denver Broncos

As a non-competitive team for the first decade of its founding in 1960, the Denver Broncos are now one of the most successful NFL teams , suffering only six losing seasons in the past 35 years. They were established as a part of the AFL and joined the NFL as part of the merger in 1970 and became members of the AFC West. In their 10 years in the AFL and for seven years in the NFL, the Broncos were unable to make it to the playoffs until 1973 in which they made it to the playoffs and advanced to the Super Bowl. That was the year that marked their winning streak and to this day, have remained one of the dominant teams in the NFL. Located in Denver, Colorado, they have been playing at the Sports Authority Field at Mile High ever since its opening in 2001.

They have two Super Bowl championships, 7 Conference championships, 13 Division championships, and 20 playoff appearances. In the early 1970's, the Broncos hired John Ralston to be their head coach and he was able to lead the team its first winning season. In five seasons, he was able to help the team win three of them, finishing up his season with the Broncos in 1976 with a 9-5 record. Red Miller replaced him and took the team to their first playoff appearance, giving the team the nickname of the “Orange Crush Defense.” In 1983, quarterback John Elway made it to five Super Bowls with the team, winning two of them. Mike Shanahan became the new head coach in 1995 and lasted until 2009 until he was fired. From 1999-2012, the Broncos have had six different quarterbacks, with Peyton Manning replacing their previous quarterback, Tim Tebow, for the 2012 season. With many rivals within their division all fighting for the division title, the Broncos remain competitive as they fight to remain a dominant team in the NFL.

Already a fighting, the Broncos picked up a few more players to add to their lineup. In the first round, they chose cornerback Bradley Roby from Ohio State. In 2012, Roby was the only defensive player in the nation to score a touchdown in all of three ways: fumbled punt, blocked punt, and intercepting a pass. Known for his speed, he is a huge addition out on the field. In the second round, they picked wide receiver Cody Latimer from Indiana. Latimer has a larger frame which allows for him to be able to pick up on more passes, which quarterback Peyton Manning will keep an eye on. The Broncos four other choices are offensive tackle Michael Schofield from Michigan, offensive linebacker Lamin Barrow from LSU, center Matthew Paradis from Boise State, and offensive linebacker Corey Nelson from Oklahoma. After losing to the Seahawks in the Super Bowl in February, they take them on once again in their first game of the preseason, hoping to improve their chances now with six newly added players.
